Summary

The objective of the course is to expose bachelor students to advanced analytical techniques and principles applied in state-of-the-art research of materials, analytical chemistry and biophysics. It will focus on both the theory background and laboratory experimental demonstration. This interdisciplinary course is given by three Professors,-Professor Michael Sailor, Professor Jianmin Wu and Professor Jiandong Feng. 

Professor Sailor will give lectures on porous silicon semiconductors with their applications for chemical and biological sensing. 

The chemical analysis part will be taught by Prof. Jianmin Wu, who will introduce advanced spectroscopy techniques and mass spectroscopy. 

Prof.Jiandong Feng will introduce advanced microscopy techniques including scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. He will also talk about single molecule techniques such as super-resolution microscopy, optical tweezers and nanopores for matter analysis.
